  1. Excluding the former USSR republics (they were forced by Moscow to speak russian), the closest one is bulgarian.

  2. The Slavic Language group is a branch of the Indo-European language family. It includes three subgroups:

    East Slavic (Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian)

West Slavic (Polish, Czech, Slovak, Sorbian)

South Slavic (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Slovene, Macedonian, Bulgarian)

As has been observed, Finnish belongs to the Finno-Ugric language group, which is not part of the Indo-European language family. Finnish is closely related to Estonian and distantly related to Hungarian.

  3. It's most closely related to Ukranian and Belarussian. It's also important you know Romanian is not a slavic language, it is descended from Latin. Finnish and Turkish are also not slavic languages.

Serbian/Croatian is similar to russian, but it's part of the South Slavic branch which includes, slovenian and bulgarian.

Polish, Czech, and Slovak are related to Russian as well but they belong to the Western Slavic branch...

P.S. Just to clarify, Finnish is not a Nordic Language, ie implying it's related to Swedish or Norwegian, Finnish is distantly related to Estonian and Hungarian, it belongs to the Finno-Urgic language family...

  4. Out of the languages you've listed, only serbian belongs to the slavic family. Although, the closest language to russian should be bulgarian, and some other countries, former soviet's republics, like Belarus and Ukraine.

  5. The Serbian is the most related

    because it is Slavic language

    romanian  is latin one

    turkish is Persian-  indian

    finish is nordic

so Russian as bulgarian as cheh. language=slavic

  6. It is related to Serbian in that it is a Slavic language; it is not really closely related apart from being a Slavic language; it is not related to any of the other languages you mention.

  7. Serbian, the other languages you list aren't slavic.
