  1. Common organic items like feathers, fur, hair, or anything shed like snake skin offer sources for making fertilizer. Plant residues like coffee grounds, tea leaves, peelings, or food gone fuzzy in the fridge. Ammonia has nitrogen while soap, shampoo, and detergents have phosphorus. Alfalfa pellets like rabbit food are about 2-1-2 but have trace elements also. Algae is a good source if you have a pond or tank you must clean. Wood ashes, sawdust, eggshells, even clothes if they are pure silk or wool. Wool NPK: 3.5/2/1 & Silk 8/1/1

Potassium is mined from a number of minerals such as greensand rock powder (found in New Jersey) but can be found in manure. If you keep rabbits or other small herbivores their used bedding will compost and provide potassium. Rabbit droppings 3/1.5/0.3
