I am producing a reception for lawyers at Sony Studios. The first part of the event is an awards reception (honoring 2 distinguished law school alumni and those who serve(d) in the military) and the second half is a reception. I am looking for other theme ideas besides the usual hollywood, redcarpet, celebrity.

Any ides for themes, decor, etc?

  1. a hawaiian theme

    summer's coming!!!

  2. The French Quarter in New Orleans, Jazz players etc.

  3. With Memorial Day here, and the 4th of July coming ... plus the Summer Olympics ... a patriotic theme is always correct!

  4. How about a "Behind the Scenes" party and you can do the party based on the personality and character of the lawyers.  Like what kind of people they are, family men, kind, good hearted, good to their employers, that they served in the military, what their hobbies are, etc.

It can be a theme of what they're like "behind the scenes"  being it's at Sony Studios backlot and you don't want a movie theme, you're not exactly doing a movie theme, but it kind of sticks with the area that you're in.

You can have the guests honor the guests of honor by telling stories that would demonstrate them behind the scenes and what they're like.

For decorations you can decorate with what their hobbies are.  Try to incorporate their different hobbies in the centerpieces.  Being it's for the two people,  you can have half the centerpieces represent one person and the other half represent the other.  So if one person is into golf, do something with that centerpiece that would have something in that has a golf.  Even if you do flowers and then some tees and golf balls in it.

You can put some clusters of balloons around the area and just make it classy.  I would stick with balloons and I'm not sure what else.  Maybe some clear stringed lights.

For another theme, can you do the theme based on the award they're receiving?  Let the party theme the award they get, being that's what the whole party is for and why it's being given, let that be the theme for the night.

If the award has to do with their jobs, let that be the theme, that their outstanding at their job if it has to do with the character of the men that they are, let that be the theme of the party.  Whatever the award is for, let the theme of the party follow.

    I hope these ideas help!
