What other product is released when an anhydride is formed by the combination of 2 carboxylic acids?

a) alcohol b) water c) ester d) Hcl e) hydrogen

also can anyone tell me if the dehydration of 2 primary alcohols makes an ether or an alkene... I think ether but my book is so off the wall...thank you

  1. Denise, look at the info.  Anhydride means "without" water.  So if you have R-COOH and R'-COOH and wind up with R-CO-O-OC-R', what have you lost?
