What other sources of help are there?

I went to my GP for self harm and some other issues. I just feel like not much is changing. My GP is great but keeps telling me different things and it's getting annoying making me think nothing will end up happening/changing.

She has given me a name and number of an organisation (who deal with self harm) to get in touch with. I did this today and emailed in a 'referral form' but i can't see anything with that happening any time soon.

I can't even describe how i feel right now. I'm feeling absolutely terrible and have pretty much no 'support'. I'm just pretty much empty and numb (not in an okay way) it feels like everything is finally getting too much. I'm not that strong a person and can't deal with this.

What other help is out there?

Seeing professionals was the last resort so i've allready tried the 'self help' things.

  1. Well, when I feel really depressed I really don't have anyone to talk to either. What makes me feel better is exercising, running to be exact, watching a ridiculously stupid funny movie, and reading a good book. You can't give up on the help, keep searching. I too have had bad experiences with it but I keep trying. Think to yourself, do you want to spend the rest of your life miserable, or do you want it to change.

  2. If you feel as though you are in immedieate danger, call 911.

if not, try calling your local hospital, they should be able to get you in touch with the local mental health clinic.  Every area has at least one and they could offer everything form group therapy to individualized therapy to hospital stays depending on what you need.

GP are really not experienced with this sort of thing so they generally aren't very helpful.

  3. first if you are using drugs, QUIT next find something to focuse on, for me it was personal fitness, it is an incredable stress reliever and when you see your body changing and lookin better you will boost you self esteem, find something to replace your disire to hurt yourself, exercise is the best cause that is a good pain because your are improving your body instead of destroying it
