  1. *community service is gold. its rewarding and makes you seem like a person with character.

*internships. also gold, even if you don't get paid because they are selective.

*summer camp academia. not the expensive ones (unless you can afford them). i never could, but rather signed up for free workshops at my local state college.

*get involved in a sport of some kind - it doesn't even have to be in school. for me, it's scuba diving.

    *ap exams.

*do something that benefits the community or that involves leadership - such as volunteering to help coach a softball team or organizing a project to clean up your neighborhood.

*a random interest - colleges love something different. for example, i am a certified scuba diver, have traveled the world, and started my own business where i recycle garbage basically and donate 1/2 to charity (also looks good).

*for the SAT/ACT, these still need to be better, only because what i have named are items which show you are well rounded. i would honestly consider buying a prep book or even an online course - they are important.

*gpa - don't worry immensely. i had a 3.4 at the end of my sophomore year and it's the end of my junior year and i have a 4.1; so chill out and work VERY HARD your junior year-they really do look the most at that year!

    hope this helped!
