  1. Travel the day before I suggest  you get a London Peterbro via Ipswich stops at ELY unless you can get  to Liverpool St by 06.38 arr Ely 08.59.. If you leave Bristol  the night before 21.42 arrive Paddington 23.29

choice The two tube line appear open Circle and Hammersmith lines  think maybe cheaper to get a tickets Bris-Lond then

Lond-Ely maybe cheaper to book on to peterb'

  2. You can use a Night bus night buses start with the letter N for example N50 N stands for night bus or a taxi but they will charge more they charge night rates  but the underground opens early in the morning so check when you get there as it might be open and if there is maintenance work on there will be a bus replacement service on

  3. I was once caught out like this and I caught a bus.

  4. This is the thing I hate about online journey planners. They are almost always wrong.

I think you've made a mistake in your travel plans. The train you're aiming for from Ely DEPARTS at 0830 and won't arrive in Bury St Edmunds until 0855. If that is cutting things too fine, there is a train that leaves Cambridge at 0743 getting into Bury St Edmunds at 0823. To catch this, you'd need the 0645 from London Kings Cross to connect. Alternatively, you could catch the direct service from London Liverpool Street (0638 departure) which will get you to Bury St Edmunds at 0830.

The tube won't be your problem, as there will be trains running from both the Circle and the Hammersmith & City platforms that will get you to Kings Cross or Liverpool Street in plenty of time to make the connections you need. There are no planned closures shown on the Transport for London website, so you should be absolutely fine.

Your big problem is that the first train from Bristol won't get you to Bury St Edmunds until 0855 (route via Ely), and catching the last one the night before will mean several hours hanging around overnight in London.

Why not just go up the day before and stay over somewhere...?

  5. Night bus in London. Or get a cab from Paddington to Kings Cross station? It's not that far so won't cost a fortune.

Best way is to stay overnight in Bury St. Edmunds.

  6. Go to the london underground website and look up the station. It will tell you if there is a replacement bus service or not.
