What other ways can I sell mary kay products??

I'm very new to mary kay. I'm very excited to start but I was told to start off by asking friends and family...but we all know we cant make money off of our friends and family. So then I was told to begin small talk and at the end of the convo hand out my business card...that's ok. But how can I seal the deal that they truly are interested in getting a facial etc. I tried doing a promotion with some businesses but they were not interested. I'm thinking about making flyers and just putting them in peoples mail boxes.So I need some other ideas of how can I sell mary kay products....so any suggestions??

I've been researching network marketing like mad. I've found info from Ann Sieg and Jeff Weissman to be helpful. Jeff gives out info for free (but they take your phone number up front and do make a call to check in with you) www.beyondthewarmmarket.com . You are not the first to ask this question nor the first to search for other ways instead of following the advice of those who have ben where you are now.  You are correct we do not make money off of our friends and family however they will be good practice.  I always explain this to my new consultants ask them to let you practice some will some wont some will invite friends who just might be come your best customer the point is you need ot practice to get the knowledge so by the time you understand all the products and know how to answer all the question that you will get you will be practicing so why not on people who you know then when you get to the people you don't you will know what you are doing.  This might not make a whole lot of sense to you now but trust me it will.  

The more you share what you do the better chance of finding people will want what you offer.  It is not a get rich quick it take time and effort to build your business sure there are lots of ideas out there go to intouch or unitnet and there are hundreds of ways office of the week vendor and restaurant events lot of great ways to get leads but the more time you let laps from actually practicing or doing shows the harder it gets so book whom ever you can even if you make nothing in the long run you will find it really does work.
