  1. What you want it something that maintains a medium to high level, constant heat. I'm not sure about whether the recipe calls for "searing" your veggies (to lock the flavor), but it's something to keep in mind.

    I'd suggest something like a small, portable propane camp  stove with variable-heat control. That always worked better for me than a Hibatchi (which is still, essentially, a small charcoal grill; not very "adjustable" as far as heat level).
