What papers will i need to bring with me to get my permit?

I've been studying for the test for a long time, and yes i know the answers in the book, but my book got ruined. i don't have a passport, or any picture ID. i have my social card, a work permit, birth cirtificate, a visa checking card....is that enough in NY?

You'll need your birth certificate and social security card. If your state requires that you take a driving course then you'll have to bring proof of completing said course.

Bring all of the ID you mentioned, and an official piece of mail with your name and address on it (Utilities bill, bank statement, gov't tax form.. etc) and you should be fine.
