What part does the senate play in the Electoral voting?

What does that senate do that affects the results? The congress?

  1. In the event of an electoral tie the vote then moves on to the House of Representatives (not the senate) where it is decided.  In the event of a tie each state representative is given 1 vote for their state.  Then whoever gets the most votes there wins the election.  

    So that's how congress effects the electoral process.


  2. They aren't involved unless nobody gets a majority of the electoral votes. When that happens, the House chooses the President and the Senate chooses the VP.
