If I'm looking to get away from people and basically be out in the wilderness of Australia, just backpacking and camping. What part of AU should I go to? Any reccomendations?

  1. 400kl west of the Alice not a lot of people there(not a lot of anything there)

  2. the first time i went backpacking, my friends and i visited mount gambier. for me, it is ideal for escape. the place has a lot of things to offer to backpackers.

  3. I would definately recommend the Kimberlies.  There are small 4WD adventure tours that go from Broome to Darwin.  The scenery and wilflife out there is absolutely stunning.  You could then check out Kakadu and the far north of Queensland (up around Cape Tribulation as well as the Great Barrier Reef).

The Tasmanian Wilderness is another great place or in Victoria the Grampians or along the Great Ocean Road.

  4. The Outback which covers a vast amount of area. But I would say Alice Springs,  But thats basically desert.

You can also try the Blue mountains in New South Wales and the Victorian Alps.

A better option for your traveling preferences would be the South Island if New Zealand. They have great untouched environments that isolates you from the rest of the human world.

Try the Mountains & fjords of New Zealand. Its breathtaking!

I mean it would be no different traveling to the other side of Australia. theres no traveling visas needed for Aussies travelling to NZ.
