What part of Fushigi Yuugi was your favorite and why?

Fushigi Yuugi old-school fans please! Need insightful answers. Was it the first half of the tv series, the second monstrous half, the Oni ovas or Eikoden? And why??

I wasn't a fan of the OVAs, but by the time Eikoden was released I had not seen the show for many years and I was surprised by how happy I was to see my favorite characters again!

I actually thought the second half of the show was not that bad, and found the last episode to be quite emotionally effective. Of course, it was the first anime I ever watched, and I wasn't used to cartoon characters being killed on me... ^_^

I remember bawling like a little girl with a skinned knee when Nuriko died.
