The Uffizi Gallery is in Florence. You are much better off buying a ticket in advance, because I stood in line for 2 hours waiting to go in. If you don't want to buy tickets in advance, go during an odd time of the day (mid-morning or mid-afternoon, or an hour and a half before close).

Off track a little bit, but the word "uffizi" is Italian for office.  The Uffizi in Florence was once the office building for the Medici family, the powerful banking family of that region.  Interesting?
