  1. Dubbo

  2. none,its too cold

  3. i love the outer eastern suburbs. i live in narre warren and it has lots of new facilities and also has a great country feel. it's not too far from the city too.

  4. I currently live in Chadstone which is okay. It's close to the freeway into town, close to what seems like the biggest shopping centre on the planet (LOL). But if I were to move I'd look at moving closer to the city. I'd love to live in the CBD itself but it's possible after the novelty wore off I'd get quickly tired of the noise, pollution and crowds. Other suburbs I would consider:

Richmond - close to all those great Vietnamese restaurants and grocers

St Kilda - very groovy place

South Yarra - another groovy place

Fitzroy - yet another groovy place

Parkville - lovely leafy inner city suburb

East Melbourne - as good as being in the CBD but with a bit of elbow room (if you're rich enough).

  5. Well when i was nineteen, i moved into a unit with a friend in St.Kilda, It was lovely. - Close to shops, beaches, just gorgeous with night clubs and everything!

-- It can be pricy, but i really loved it there.

Now having 3 kids &a husband, we live in the Canterbury/Camberwell/Surrey Hills/Kew area. &its just gorgeous. Again, very pricey, but its a dream place to have the children grow up. :)

    Hope this helps,

  6. down the peninsulla,

    maybe olivers hill or mornington

  7. I live in the outer north eastern suburbs and i think its pretty boring most of the time but the Yarra Valley is half an hour down the road or so. so thats good when you have visitors from overseas

  8. what are you looking for??

i personally dont like living out in the suburbs so great inner city places are

middle park - on the beach, much nicer and cleaner than the more comercial st kilda. It's a safer, really nice place to live, great community, really convinient, i think it's a 10min drive into the city and probably no more than 20mins on the tram into the city. This is where i would want to raise my kids, but it's good for singles as well

i live in northcote - the prices are rising here so i would get here quick, very convinient, kinda has a hippy feel. It's not very upper class but because of its great location prices are rising

north fitzroy/clifton hill - lots of young proffesionals here, nice community, if you've got kids it's got a heap of great primary schools...not so many high schools but nevermind. It's next door to northcote, but then again very different, more upper class

fitzroy - more similar to northcote in terms of kinda being hippy. alot of young people live here, it's very convinient like a 20 min walk from the cbd. There are lots of warehouse converisions here. Great culture

richmond - i was in the country for a while my teachers were saying how awesome it was living in richmond when they were in the city (they're going out). They were saying that's there's heaps happening. They just didnt stop talking about it.

    hope this helps

  9. well if you are planning on coming to stay in melbourne, then my place.oh yeah, you gotta be a honey and single.

  10. Any of the beach side suburbs from Brighton down are good places to live. If money is no object, I'd pick Brighton for a close in suburb and Aspendale for something further out of town. I have family at Carrum/Patterson Lakes and it's very nice there too.

  11. **I like Pakenham, which is very close to the country but still a suburb of Melbourne.  If you're looking for something closer to the heart of the city, Brighton is a nice area but a bit pricey.

The Western suburbs are really growing these days and close to the city.**

  12. It depends on what you are looking for.  I love it out in the  Patterson's Lake area.  Nice and spacious but close enough to everything the city has to offer.  Pretty much the closer in you are the busier it is and places are more expensive and smaller.

  13. budget?

  14. the yarra valley is georgus =)

  15. i think the dandenong ranges is one of the most beautiful areas . close enough to everything .1 hr from the city, beaches, and Melbourne night life. the ranges have a country feel ,relaxed, fauna and flora ,wet weather cool climate rain forest and only a hop, skip, and a jump away from the yarra valley. housing prices are still reasonable. driving home through the sherbrooke forest helps you let go of the stress of your job and city. great for heart and soul

  16. each area of melbourne has its charms as well as its downsides its. i prefer somewhere within reasonable distance of the cbd.

compared to most cities in the world, anywhere in melbourne is a great place to live.

  17. Inner East Melbourne.  I lived in Camberwell and loved it!

  18. sth east burbs. Still cozy out here and only 20-30 min max from the city :) and that's not using the new eastlink

  19. St Kilda.. right on the beach !!!
