Question:

What part of Puerto Rico should I stay in?

I'm going to Puerto Rico for the week of Thanksgiving with my boyfriend. We need to find a hotel that is clean, safe, and quiet, yet close to fun things to do and a nice beach. I don't know much about Puerto Rico - should we stay in San Juan, Dorado, Condado, etc? Is there a hotel you could recommend? We cannot spend more than $200/night (and hoping to spend less than that). Thank you.

  1. You need to make your arrangements PRONTO, November is high season.  If you are not renting a car and consider night clubs fun?, then do stay in San Juan.  If you are not so much into night life and are renting a car, then you have more choices, you can go to Rio Grande or Fajardo or even Vieques.  Vieques is very romantic and you can go bar hopping at night.

  2. Old San Juan is the original colonial district.  If you like clubs, restaurants and history, I highly recommend it.  Since it's a touristy area, there's always a lot of police presence as well. Unfortunately, it's not close to the beach.

The Howard Johnson's in Old San Juan was reasonable and very nice.  Rooms are small and I would try to avoid the upper floors because the elevator is extremely slow.  Another plus: it's in the heart of the district so you don't need a rental car.

  3. Check the area of Ocean PArk, btwn Condado and Isla Verde. nice area and less expensive.http://www.puertoricocheaphotels.com/

  4. you have many options available.   although not 'quiet', The Waterclub Hotel is very nice.   For quiet, you must go to the interior or away from the metro area.   Or, try staying in one of the hotels right in Old San Juan, so you can walk to many places of interest and dining.

  5. You can try hotel search in http://www.AmericaCheapHotels.com where you can read hotel reviews and comments, see photos and its physical locations through maps ...

Best thing is you can compare the USA/worldwide hotel prices in any city in any country in your local currency.

You can find good deals because this compares hotel prices from 30 best travel websites.

You can even able to filter out hotel by its features such as Star hotels,Business Center, Room Service, High-speed Internet, Fitness Room, Restaurant Parking, Swimming pool, Pets Allowed, Airport shuttle, Handicap Accessible, Concierge.

Access lots of USA and worldwide travel information.

  6. Condado or Isla verde,

  7. Not sure of the prices, but you definately want to either stay in San Juan or Condado.  Dorado is great, but you are isolated from the "night life".  Dorado is more for families and golfers..../
