  1. I think a better way to answer this question for a tourist would be to divide Rome into three tourism-focused areas:  The Vatican is in one area, The Colosseum and Forum are in another, then there is what I would refer to as the 'Downtown district', where you will find The Trevi Fountain, The Spanish Steps, The Pantheon, and lots of shopping.  It is dead center, downtown Rome.

Rome is huge, and all three of these are actually very close to one another, but it is easier to think of it this way.  There are many, many other areas in Rome beyond that I mentioned, but they are not as frequented by tourists as those.

  2. Hello,

The trevi fountain is in the north part of Rome by the Quirinale Hill.

  3. It's actually more in the Northeastern part of the city. It isn't too far from the Pantheon or the Spanish Steps. If you ask for directions, people will most certainly help you. Italians are very kind people. If you find the Piazza Colonna, you are only two blocks away. It's more beautiful at night when it is lit up!

  4. Trevi fountain is in Piazza Trevi. Just off via del Corso, this is one of the main avenues in central Rome and is easy to find. It is best view at night time and is well lit up before 12. During the day it is very crowded with tourists.
