What part of summer is this early, mid, late?

Calendar answer:

In our Western culture, this is the early part of summer in the northern hemisphere:  summer is deemed to begin on the longest day of the year and finishes with the September equinox.

In Asian cultures, this is getting to the late portion of summer.  Spring begins the Chinese New year (second New Moon after the December solstice).  Three lunations later, Summer begins.  Seasons are designed so that the longest day of the year (June 21) falls somewhere near the middle of summer (September equinox in the middle of Autumn, etc.).

since summer begins on June 21st, we are still in the first third of summer or early summer.

I'd say its still early summer. August 5th(or thereabouts) is mid summer and we're still almost a month from that.
