  1. The medulla (located at the lower part of the brain stem) controls a person's heart and breathing rates. Th Cardiac Centre in particular controls the heart.


  2. vasomotor center in the medulla.there is the cardiac stimulating and cardiac inhibitory centers each controlled by the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system respectively.

  3. The heart's pacemaker operates independently of the brain. Only issues that would effect the entire body have much of an impact on the brain's abiltiy to regulate heart rate.

  4. Doesn't the Sino-Atrial Node (found in the right atrium) control the heart contractions on its own
