  1. It works your whole body!

There is not one muscle that isn't worked in swimming!

    I took a bio-mechanics class in college,

(my B.S. is in exercise science).

I had a chance to breakdown the freestyle stroke.

And literally every muscle is used in swimming.

Look in an anatomy book and there the muscles are that are used.

I also want to point out that there may be a lesser chance for injury, but many Olympic trained and colligate swimmers have or will have injuries (shoulder, knee, back, etc.).

  2. All parts.  Really it does.  It is one of the best exercises out there as it works your entire body without any of the possibilities for injury like aerobics, running, etc.

  3. Every part of your body is a contribution to swimming. Shoulders, Arms, Legs, Feet, Hips, Stomach, Your head, and theres some more. You might not realize that you use every part of your body, but really you do.
