  2. Australian citizens can enter Germany as a tourist or on business without at visa, if they stay there for 90 days or less.

    If you want to say longer, you can apply for the "working holiday visa".

    The working holiday programme is based on a bilateral agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and Australia and aims to enable young Australians to gain an insight into the culture and daily life in the Federal Republic of Germany. The main purpose of staying in Germany is to spend the holidays there. Holiday jobs can be taken up to help finance the stay.

    Under the working holiday programme visa holders will be able to stay in Germany for up to 12 months. During that period visa holders will be allowed to work for a total of 90 days. During those 90 days employment can be taken up with different employers of the visa holder's choice.

          

    Good knowledge of German and experience in the relevant field improve the chance to obtain work.

    Eligibility:

    Australian Citizens aged between 18 and 30 at the time of application

    Documents required to apply:

    - Application form, completely filled in and signed

    - 1 Photograph

    - Australian passport, which is valid for at least three months after the expiry of the visa

    - Return airline ticket

    - Proof of sufficient funds (a monthly minimum of A$ 400,00 ) for the complete length of the stay, for example current bank statement or sponsorship declaration with proof of income of sponsor.

    - Proof of health insurance cover valid in Germany for the duration of your stay.

    - Self-addressed „Express Post" envelope (if not applied in person)

    - visas are issued free of charge, A$ 5,- as charge for administrative expenses only (bank cheque, postal money order or cash
