What people eat in jail? (for breakfast, lunch and dinner) I'm just curious, do they eat just sandwich?

My dad was corrections officer and I have a friend who went to jail and they both said they got green hotdogs GROSS!!

They eat pretty normal meals (meat, potatoes, vegetables, eggs, grits, etc.).  As you can imagine, it's nothing fancy.  It's just the essentials.

They actually get real food, but things that are inexpensive like oatmeal, grits, potatoes,rice... cheap meat and yes of course sandwhiches. They can purchase things like noodles and chips is they have money in their account

It's all regular food but the most inexpensive ill tasting food. When you are in the holding cell is when you get the sandwiches with thick *&% bologna and cheese. It was totally disgusting.

My mother volunteers in a juvenile facility in California. She says they eat bologna sandwiches for lunch, with a piece of fruit and milk, almost everyday.  For a HUGE treat they get pizza or hotdogs.
