What people think depends on their level of education and access to objective information. What can help to stop the conflict ? Good will on both sides to resolve the problem peacefully. Saakashvilly seems to play  low politics ("say one thing - do another"). His obvious way to deal with runaway republics (Osetia, Adjaria, Abhasia) is brutal force and if possible elimination these small nations from face of earth.Russia is trying to prevent it. By doing this Russian army crossed the border of Georgia and as such broke the international law - in the same way as US broke it by invading Iraq.US, and NATO sided with Georgia - that in no way can help to resolve the conflict and will not, unfortunately

There is no chance of a military intervention so one can only hope diplomatic efforts through the UN can resolve this madness.

If you can read Russian or Georgian there is your site, if you can't, than this is the answer. Russians are doing the right thing........

That land DO NOT BELONG TO Georgia.

President of Aphasia, Sergey Bagapsh, and Ossetia's Edward Kokoyte would like their country to be independent from Georgia, and Georgia denied, so they ask for help from Russia. Most of the citizens of both country's are Russians.

I mainly worry that it could spread to a larger scale war involving more countries. That would be bad.

Good question. The EU and NATO should warn Russia the same way Russia warned Georgia back in 1992---cease hostilities or suffer the consequences.

NATO must flex her muscles. We cannot let the Russian bully push Georgia around or any other nation for that matter....
