  1. you start out with a/b = p/100

a is 6 because it's not the percent

b is what your solving for

p is 1.2 b/c that is the percent

    so it's 6/b and 1.2/100

    Cross Multiply

    so 6 times 100 is 600

    and 1.2 times 100 is 120

    You end up with 600/120

    and divide 600 into 120

and the answer should be 5..

  2. what percent of 1.2 is 6?

    so you do 6/1.2

    wich equals 5.0

    5.0 is 500 percent.

    i think hopei helped

  3. These problems confused me for a while when I was younger, but they're actually pretty easy to solve once you figure out that the equation you need is in the question.  The way I do them is:

I'm looking for a value, call it x.  Once I see the word "what", I am going to write down "x".  Write down any numbers you see as you read them and then some words clue you in on what to write.  For your problem:

"What percent of 1.2 is 6?"

"what" = x, so write that down... "percent" tells you that once you have your answer, you need to convert it to a percentage because it will be an ordinary number.  "of" always means multiplication.  "is" always means equals..  So just write your equation as it is worded:

    what .................... x

    percent (later)

    of .........................* (times)

    1.2........................1.2

    is..........................=

    6...........................6

    So your equation is on the left : x * 1.2 = 6

So solve that like an ordinary algebra problem by dividing both sides by 1.2 to get

    x = 6 / 1.2 = 5

x = 5, so multiply that by 100 to make it a percentage and your answer is 500%.  Follow that formula for all of these problems.

  4. ... 500%

are you sure that's what you meant?

  5. n % X  1.2 = 6

    n% = 1.2 / 6

    n% = 5

    n=500%

Here is how I remember to do these...  of means x

is means =   , what means the answer or n like in the answer above

    what%  of   6  is  1.2

       n%       X    6 = 1.2

This is what buck R is saying, too.

  6. %  of 1.2=6

    % of 6/1.2= 5 =500%

  7. you just move 1.2(the decimals to the left) = 0.012 because fraction is out of 100. Now you multiply 6 and 0.012.(0.012 x 6) = 0.072=7.2 percent

  8. 500%

    6 / 1.2 *100 = 500

  9. 500%

  10. k so 1.2 is 100% of 1.2

    5 times 1.2 is 6, so 6 is 500% of 1.2

  11. hi friend. if u want the percentage then just

    (6/1.2)*100=500

    its actually 500%

  12. You guys need to show steps.. just getting the answer only leads to copying which leads to cheating, which leads to failing math later on...

Anyhow here is how you do it...

What percent  is represent as x

    of represents the multiplication symbol

    is represents the equal sign

    so we have...

    x * 1.2 = 6

    Now we solve for x

    x = 6.00 / 1.2 = 5.00

    Now remember 1.00 = 100% so 5.00 is 500%

  13. That would be 500%.
