What percent of 12 year old males can run a 6:24 mile?

Question

Last year I ran a 6:24 mile at school and it broke my school record. I was just wondering what percent of 12 year olds could run that or faster. Oh and what is the world record?

when i was 12 i ran a 6:07 mile -- and i didnt break my schools mile -- and im a girl (i was a girly girl back then too)

From what I could remember not many, I ran a 6:02 in 6th grade just turning 12 and broke my middle school record as well. When I went to track and field competition for my school that year I got 3rd so if you do the math with 4 schools in the area with about 300 6th graders per school with about 12 people that run in the 6 minute range that's about 1%.  

Not many could achieve the mid to lower 6 minute mark at that age.  I later joined a track and field team outside of school with a good coach who was a track runner himself.  He helped me with my form, stride, breathing and speed work.  Three years later I ran my fastest time at 4:58 being 15 and I wasn't a stick either, I benched 215 weighed 145 being 5'4 and also ran the 200 making it to state finals.  The point of this is to keep training, preferably get a coach, nothing is impossible keep up the good work, you've got a great start. My mistake was stopping at 15 but dumb reasons.

it really depends on if these 12 year olds train or not.  I'm assuming you didn't because you were probably still in elementary school.  6:24 is really good for no training.  As for percentage I'm not very sure.  Probably around 5% I'm guessing.  The world record for the mile is 3:42 i believe.

I'm not sure what percentage it is, but a 6:24 mile is pretty good for a 12 year old if you just started. I ran a 5:20 mile when I was 13 - you'll find that when you just start doing distance events, your time will drop drastically at first.
