Once a family has been here for a couple of generations, then I would think they would blend into the "melting pot" and be kin is some way.  If you consider how FEW people actually migrate(d) to the US (compared to the world), then if your family has been here for more than a couple of generations, there's a really good chance you are related to most other Americans with the same or longer generational residence.

Probably related to a lesser degree in N America because the US is a melting pot of many cultures. In America, people come from all parts of the world. Because the Americas are relatively new cultures compared to European or Asian nations, there is more diversity here than there is elsewhere.

Other relatively homogenous populations will include countries in Eastern Europe, Africa, and South East Asia.
