1.7 percent of human births are intersex. I know this isn't specifically for the US, but I still hope this helps! =)

hermaphrodism is considered derogatory. The correct medical term is "partial androgen insensitivity syndrome" or "partial AIS". They are one form of intersex.

Intersex is a general term of many s*x anomaly conditions such as kleinfelters, cogenital adrenal hyperplasia, mocaicism, Turners syndrome, etc........the list goes on.

So which are you referring to? If the question is directed towards intersexed born as a whole, the numbers would be about 1/500 in humans.

There are animals that are born intersexed as well.
