I'm doing a project and need to know what percent of an electric car battery is recycled or reused

  1. all the metals will get recycled, as will the base plates to which they are bonded to. the electrolyte solution can generally be recycled as well. depending on the case material it will also be recycled. as i recall about 85% of any battery will be recycled.


  2. Here is what Tesla says (ESS = Energy Storage System = battery):

    "The result from this process is that we are able to recycle about 60% of the ESS materials and reuse a further 10% (by weight). We currently plan to landfill only the benign fluff, which comprises about 25% of the ESS, but we expect to nearly eliminate this in the future when our volumes get higher and we can justify the effort required to separate and reuse the plastic."
