You ever take the day off and see all these able-bodied people standing around on the streets seemingly with nothing to do. Doesn't that make you angry that you are working for THEM?

What percent of the US population actually works full-time or more?

(Factor out the retired, kids, housewives, the lazy, the sick, infirmed, mentally ill, imprisoned, etc., etc.)

I'd think it must be 25%!

  1. think i heard around 170 million

  2. That is a hard question because I know alot of people that collect a full time paycheck that wouldn't know work if it hit them in the face.

  3. Well, that would take a while.  Attached is a spreadsheet of the full time employee occupations.  They amount to 83 Million.  There are a total of about 350 million people in the US.  That's 23.7%.

If you factor out everything else, I'd guess it would be about 40-45%.  Of course, there are many people that just have two or three part time jobs, that wouldn't factor into these statistics, but are working the equivalent of full time.

  4. I know, right?  I am also floored on those rare occasions that I take a day off to note that no one else seems to be working.  I swear to God that everyone in this country has a trust fund or something....

  5. You aren't too far off. It is about 26%. It is amazing isn't it. How the country can actually prosper.

  6. The percentage is a lot lower than it used to be since all our jobs are being shipped to other countries.

  7. I work too much to notice I guess...even on a supposed day off, I still seem to work...Huh...I'll try to take more notice.  Maybe its a whole nation of "think tanks"...and they are planning great things, and desquising themselves as

"not working"...Hey you never know???   LOL
