I don't care about the 'Well, the brain is made of __% water, the lungs and heart and c**p are made of __% water, blah blah blah, etc.' I just want to know the WHOLE human body in general. And if there's a difference between men and women, then that'd be helpful too. Thanks!

  1. Different people have different percentages of their bodies made up of

water. Babies have the most, being born at about 78%. By one year of age, that amount drops to about 65%. In adult men, about 60% of their bodies are water. However, fat tissue does not have as much water as lean tissue. In adult women, fat makes up more of the body than men, so they have about 55% of their bodies made of water. Fat men also have less water (as a percentage) than thin men.

  2. 66%

  3. As babies we are approximately 75 to 80% water and as we grow older this percentage decreases until the percentage is reduced to approximately 60 to 65% for men and 50 to 60% for women. The human brain is about 85% water and our bones are between 10 to 15% water. The chemical structure of water H2O and both the hydrogen and oxygen have great importance as life giving properties and a preserving force to our systems. Women have a higher percentage of adipose tissue than men, giving them a lower percentage of water.

  4. "Different people have different percentages of their bodies made up of

So you can see three possible reasons for the discrepancies you have found:

    1) Babies and kids have more water (as a percantage) than adults.

    2) Women have less water than men (as a percentage).

    3) Fat people have less water than thin people (as a percentage).

A forth reason is that different people measure per cent water a little

differently, causing small differences in the answer."

  5. 2/3 like the earth;-)

  9. I believe it is two thirds. that also includes water mixed with other stuff like blood cells too though. I don't think much is pure 100% water if any.
