  1. The term "addiction" is used in many contexts to describe an obsession, compulsion, or excessive physical dependence, such as: drug addiction, alcoholism, compulsive overeating, problem gambling, computer addiction, etc. (WIKI definition)

I would say 80+% of the population has some type of addition when loosely applying this definition.  I don’t think the term is deemed negative when used in a day to day context.

Addicted to Love, coffee, soda, dining out, gum, carmex, biting fingernails, speeding, shopping, Y!A, chatting, the internet, p**n, pedicures, cursing, eating ice cream in your bathrobe, cookie dough, etc…..

I am addicted to coffee and lip-stuff (MUST have something on my lips at ALL times....lip-gloss, chap-stick, etc.).

  2. p**n

  3. What constitutes an addiction? If I had an ice cream cone every day, would I be considered an addict?  That term is overused, misunderstood, and personally, I am tired of hearing it or seeing it.

  4. No idea how many people are addicted, but I would estimate 9%. You only get the one answer though.

  5. Probably 80% or so are addicted to something.

    Most common:

    alcohol

    nicotine

    tv

    various drugs

    personally I'm addicted to chocolate

  6. To become addicted one must first be sick emotionally (unhealthy) , there would be and in fact is an underlying disturbance in the persons  life or a set of disturbances being masked by their addiction(s) they are also codependent personality types
