  1. Probably about 50 to 55% are electrified if you include east and west coast main lines, lines in east anglia and all lines in to London terminals with the exception of Marylebone.  Paddington has the Heathrow express which is electrified but all of the great lines are not

The majority of the eastern England are electrified and of course All of Southern and South Western England plus the London Underground

  2. I'm sure you would find out on the Internet

  3. Approximately 40%.

Definately not all main lines or Inter-City routes are electrified. For example, there are over 200 miles of Great Western Main Line, and hundreds of route miles in Scotland, that have never seen a hint of electrification.

Most of the south east uses the third rail system with DC voltages from 600 to 750V. The rest of the electrified network now uses 25kV 50Hz overhead.

In addition to this there are hundreds of track miles of Underground railways in London and Glasgow that are electrified on the 4th and 3rd rail systems.

  4. properly not as much as it used be , as

most trains you see nowadays at desal

  5. all the inter-city,main lines are electrified...

    40% of the network...is electrified.

  6. People really need to check before making guesses. The information is readily available on the net. The facts are these: - as of 2006, 40% (3,062 miles / 4,928 km) of the British rail network is electrified and 60% of all rail journeys are by electric traction (both by locomotives and multiple units). According to Network Rail, 66% of the electrified network uses the 25 kV a.c. overhead system and 36% uses the 660/750 V d.c. third rail system  (that makes 102% I know, but they might be including those parts where there is dual third rail and overhead - or someone in NR's office can't add up)
