Question:

What percentage of Hillary's female supporters do you think McCain will get due to his choice of Palin as VP?

Some of them are bound to see Senator McCain's choice of Sarah Palin for VP as the final reason for them to drop all consideration of Senator Obama and pull the lever for the Republican ticket in November. The question is:

What percentage of them will do this?

I'm guessing it's around 25% (yes, really) and that the vast majority of that 25% are either middle-of-the-road Democrats or independents who were never too thrilled with the Obama phenomenon in the first place.

If my estimate of 25% turns out to be even remotely accurate, Senator Obama is finished as a viable candidate for the Presidency in this election cycle. And, since Dems NEVER run the same guy twice, that would put paid to his Presidential aspirations for all time. Too bad -- maybe he should've waited until he had some qualifications for the job -- what do you think, would that have helped or was he always doomed to fail?

And, please, pretty please, for those of you inclined to bring up the issue of race -- don't embarrass yourselves by even thinking of going there. At least 90% of Americans simply do not care about the race of the candidates; what that 90% want is a competent leader of the country and the free (and the unfree) world. The job of President is more than important enough that they'll take WHOEVER THEY CAN GET as long as he or she is capable of doing the job. Yes, really -- trust me on this one, okay?

  1. Why is it that the vast majority who bring up race are non-Black but everyone is always worried about Blacks bringing up race? You dedicated a whole paragraph full of nonsense to it.

The qualifications angle is not valid. The same argument was made about Clinton and some consider him one of the best presidents in the last few decades. Then most perceived Bush as having the experience but having done a poor job in his past positions both business and government. It's merely a slogan one side repeats to bang into people's heads so that drones like yourself will believe it without any analysis.

Why is this considered a good thing? Black people have been under attach ever since Obama announced his candidacy; accused of voting for him simply because he was Black, then even those who lean towards Republicans have been accused of not voting for him simply because he's Black. Now you're talking about this like a good thing as if it is based on merit. So I suppose his "qualifications" wouldn't have mattered to begin with.

  2. Actually, in my city we were having a conference with 2000 plus persons. Majority were woman. They all claimed that Obama definitly has their vote now. Many were waiting to see McCain pick before deciding. I was a McCain fan as well, but Obama and Biden will be getting my vote along with the other 1500 out of 2000 this morning.

  3. I was Hilary supporter. I will be shifting side

  4. I think the number is MUCH higher.

Hillary Clinton was a VERY BAD choice.   For 35 years of public life, Hillary was ALWAYS to the FAR Left... and only PRETENDED to appear moderate after Kerry lost.... just so she could run (and have a chance to win) in this election.

Women voters for Hillary were as BLATENTLY voting for "a woman" just as 97% of blacks are MERELY voting for "a black".

I think there will be a big shift to the right for female voters.

  5. I think 0%.  Sarah Palin will not be his VP. She has many positives but the big negative is her age and experience.  Normally this is not an issue, but the RNC and McCain campaign has made Obama's age and experience a political issue.  Nominating a VP who is younger and less experienced than Obama negates this argument.

The other negative about her is that she is currently under investigation for abuse of power in the firings of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.

Edit: 08/29/08 11:40 EST.  I stand corrected he did nominate her.  This really is a bad decision for McCain, democrats will tear her apart.

  6. I'd give it more like 35% with 25% as the minimum and 45% as the maximum; most of 'em DO NOT LIKE Senator Obama at all.

  7. Not this percentage, sorry.

  8. i was thinking more like 40-50%

  9. I think your right 25%. But Hilary is really making it hard to support McCain. Did you hear her speech or what? Who cares about Palin? i know if McCain Dies, He'll take over, but Hilary supporters will still take in consideration of who she thinks is the best candidate which is obviously Obama. Hilary's supporters don't look at her gender. They look at Hilary's ideas and what she can do in office!

  10. This definitely was thrown like a curveball. However, I think once women get over the aftershock of seeing Palin as a VP choice and read her issues - she's not pro-choice at all. The majority of the Hillary supports (if not all) -were- and that's one of their key issues.

Yet, some women will certainly vote for McCain simply because the female VP...so I'm thinking the number could be anywhere between 10%-20% - but again, we'll have to wait and see.

  11. Why would they do such a thing? This was a nice try on behalf of McCain. Pick a woman for vice president. We will have to wait and see how this backfires on the old f**t. True indeed she is a woman, but she is not Hillary Rodham Clinton.
