Not a single Muslim would let their nine year old daughter marry a middle aged married man in normal situations. If he or she is living in a society, where it becomes difficult to save daughters from wicked, or from a invading kuffar army, few may think for it, for the safety of their daughter, if the safety and Honor is guaranteed.

Well, I know in the US this would be illegal, since polygamy is against the law in all 50 states. Not to mention that this would possibly fall under the pedafilia laws, and all adult parties would go to jail. I do not know how it would be handled in other countries.

By the way, tradition has nothing to do with it, nor do religious "rights".

Many Muslims are not answering this question...they are making excuses for Muhammad's behavior.  Muslims do everything Mo did...pray the way he said, wipe the way he did, wash the way he did.  He married a 6 year old and consummated the marriage when Aisha was 9.  He never said no one else can do this.  He said that about the number of wives a Muslim can have.  He had more than 4, but allah gave him special permission.  Why didn't allah or Muhammad say only Muhammad can have a little girl for a wife?

To answer your question, I think the percentage would be low.  We know it's not 0 because there are always stories about these man-child marriages in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan.  But I truly believe most people realize that Muhammad was wrong and they love their daughters.

The book provides scientific reasons for why The Sun had become dim as described by Christian monks, meteorites were falling from the sky, temperatures fell, volcanoes, floods, earthquakes and a terrible plagues ravaged humanity. Also, you may wish to search the net for description of the Justinian Plague for your report. Many believed, including Christian monks,  that the world was coming to an end. Remember, Muslims believe Muhammad was the last Prophet described in the Bible. As such, Muhammad came at a time that closely resembled the tribulation described in the Gospel (Injil) in Matt 24. We believe God loved Muhammad so much, that he did us a favour and didnt destroy humanity completely for his sake. He is for us what is described as the son of man in the Bible. This also probably explains why more than 10 million Christians in Byzantium converted to Islam in the age of the Prophet, who recognized these prophecies in the Bible, fulfilled by him (peace be upon him).

It's clear what you're trying to imply so let's just get straight on to it...

Muhammed married Aaisha at 19 not 9. It was only reported by Hisham that she was 9 years old. But just like verything else in Islam many insist to twist and blow out of proportion the actual situation.

In the time of the prophet Muhammed, there were shortages in men and so therefore men would marry many women, Islam put a limit to that of 4. Also, the average age that people lived till was around 40 years old, therefore it was seen as a sensible thing to do to marry at a young age to carry on the reproduction cycle properly, and with the shortage of men, it's obvious they would be with older men. Aisha was 19 when they actually got married, this is proven in many reports, for example, in the time, you must have been 15 years or older to fight in the battles, and younger were sent back home. Aisha also lead thousands of people at the battles, this proves that she was above the age of 15, other reports support this the age that is reported by most was between the ages 18-21.

The time at which this all happend, it was common and seen normal, girls were classed mature at a much younger age as they are now. Ttry to understand.

Also this is not practiced anymore, as the society now live longer, the rules change, there are no battles or shortages in men and it's against the norms of society now.

Really, only ones that are supper traditional and live in a village. And by the way Aisha was engaged to a man who was in his sixties when she was four years old before she married Rasullulah(S). Her family converted to Islam which is why the engagement was broken off. Aisha was a woman by biological terms when she was married so it was acceptable to the time period and culture. It does not have really anything to do with religion.

no one I hope. I do not think it is legal. most 9 year old have not had a period either, so they are not considered woman. Now look back in the american culture for a moment. There were plenty of men going with little girls, in fact men all over the world have exploted woman and girls.
