  1. The aloe plant is 99% to 99.5% water. The sap contains anthraquinone. The gels and ointments of aloe vera in lotions may contain a higher percentage depending on the brand.

  2. The 12 anthraquinones Aloe emodin, Aloetic Acid, Aloin, Anthracine, Antranol, Barbaloin, Chrysophanic Acid, Emodin, Ethereal Oil, Ester of Cinnamonic Acid, Isobarbaloin, Resistannol are mainly to find in the leaves themselves resp. their sap ( much more than in gel ).

" A.vera sap contains phenolic anthraquinones of 7.09 mg/g of lyophilizate"

    see "RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS"

This goes with another site saying the content is about 0,08 mg/g. This content is only to find in the quideline, for the article you have to sign in.

    Another publication says:

"Aloe contains as its major and active principles hydroxyanthrone derivatives, mainly of the aloe-emodin-anthrone 10-C-glucoside type. The major constituent is known as barbaloin (aloin) (15-40%) (8, 13). It also contains hydroxyaloin (about 3%). Barbaloin ( aloin) is in fact a mixture of aloin A (10S) [1] and B (10R) [2]. A. ferox also contains aloinoside A [3] and B [4]. Aloin A and B interconvert through the anthranol form as do aloinoside A and B (13)".

see "WHO monographs on selected medicinal plants" nearly in the middle of this site:

This should be the percentage of single anthraquinones in the group (= 100%)
