  1. On average for all races across the world, it's about a third... meaning 33%.  Favorites finish in the top 3 about 50% of the time.

  2. Between 31% to the highest used to be Chester 41%..

  3. Such blanket information is not very useful anyway as a favourite's price can be anything from 1/66 to 10-1 depending upon the amount of the competition. If you wished to analyse the results further for the last 15 or so years you would need to buy Racing Interactive software from the Racing Post.

  4. around 33% overall, but non -handicaps its about 40% and handicaps about 25%

  5. well...it depends on the day week or year! I work in a bookies and some days lots of favorites win - those with very bad odds that you have to put alot on but win very little back are most likely to win ie. fav may be 1/7 (a pound for every seven you bet) and if second fav is 4/1 it is likely that the fav will win - but you need to see what jockey is on it - see what the odds are on that jocky being the jockey of the year and that may help - see how old the horse is and how it ran before and even the weights..hope this helps but id like to say try not to gamble  - i see more people lose than win!

and to rich below me all these above details are available in the racing post - or ask in the bookies and they can show you who is the fave jockey so far this yr!hope this helps...some people really study it and can perhaps make a living out of it its the stupid people who throw money on anything that makes the bookie money!

  6. It all depends on the race track.  I think the average would usually range between 25-33%.  I had the NY Daily News last week, and I think I saw that Yonkers has about 40% of their winners win, and they never have more than 8 horses in a race.  I would think that the more horses running in a race, the less of a chance that a favorite has on winning.

  7. Aprox 33%.

  8. 30-35% generally. Follow topweights in nurseries

  9. Never mind favs. Pick No: 6 .

  10. less then 10%

  11. I doubt whether those figures are readily available, since betting is worth a LOT of money to the agencies that control it. Put it this way, there aren't many poor bookies out there. They always seem to make money on the day, whatever the winner.

Edit: Hey amz! The case for the defence rests.

  12. about 33% i think

  13. Depends on lots of things 2year old and maiden races are high percentage but handicapes are lower Go to a good horseracing webite or get the Racing Post Its all down in black and white Good luck This time next year we will be millionaires
