  1. At the moment it is 50.07%. This percentage has been monotonically increasing fora little while now.

  2. good question!

all I found thats somewhat close to a ratio is this... "In the world today, the statistics show that there are 33 million more men than women."

  3. There is 100.6  males for every 100 females world wide.

That makes it 50%. I also think it is the top half.

  4. the top percentage

  5. Approximately 50%

UN Statistics Division, Department of Economic and Social Affairs. "World Population Prospects: The 2006 Revision".

    population 2007 (est.)

    World - 6,671,226,464

    Male - 3,360,742,758

    Female - 3,310,483,706

  6. Intuitively knowing that such statistics would be outdated at best and unreliable at worst, I should have said 50-50. But that is a very broad generalization.  It varies by country and by age group.  At older ages, women outnumber men by far - everywhere. At younger ages, and in third-world countries, the hazards of childbirth and patriarchal societies to women are balanced by the fecklessness of young men murdering each other. But valid or not, to what practical purpose could such a statistic be put?
