What perspective would be best for this story?

I'm writing a story about God giving up on the world. My main character(a girl named Mika, which means beginning in Japanese) is experiencing it. I think I should do it in 1st person perspective. Does anyone agree, or disagree?

well if it's based mainly around Mika's general thoughts i think you should write from her persective and it's also easier to relate to one's main character

I can't say, because the only way I can tell with POV is the main character. How would the story be different if it was not told in first person? Would the impact be better in first? First person and third can change the whole feel of the story. First person lets the MC have more of a personality, since you are basically digging into their head. It's their perspective. Would the story benefit from first better or from third?

Why not do something radical & tell it from an observer's POV?  You could use Michael the Archangel, for instance.  The Archangel Gabriel is supposed to be a messenger so he's a possibility.  (He's the one who announced to Mary she was w/ child).  Or you could have dialog between describing what God & Mika (great name) are saying.  If you have a clever imagination, you could pull it off.  Another possibility is to have several characters drift in & out of the scenes giving their opinions.  You could use cherubs (identifying w/ Mika), old & new angels (in rank & human years) or whatever heavenly bodies you want.  Think of the richness of thought you'd get using Satan!

I wouldn't use Jesus--too cliche.

I think this will be a wonderful story--complex & soul searching, something readers can identify w/.  Best of luck.

Were you going to make Mika a Joan of Arc type who's speaking literally to God? She tries to convince people and no one believes her? I'm sure the French thought God had given up on them during the Hundred Years' War.
