  1. Um.... wait you don't want a rat because "they dont like to be held that much"??? Do you KNOW anything about rats. I was going to suggest them actually. They are THE best pet for kids and anyone older. They are just like dogs, very interactive and loving. They will beg you to take them out of their cage! They need to be taken out to run arounf every day for at least an hour.  My rats have an open cage policy for when I am at home, so they are constantly running underfoot in my room. By the way, you cannot ave one rat, at least two.

Actually, there is no such thing as an animal that does not like handling. It depends on where it comes from, and how much you handle it. Mice, hamsters, gerbils,  and guinea pigs will be very skittish if you get them from a pet store, and don't hold them regularily, but at the same time those animals will be VERY tolerant of handling if you get them from a breeder or shelter, and handle them daily.

And sugar gliders are only good pets for adults. They are like babies, and you will have to dump them in a shelter whe nyou go off to school and they will be depressed.

  2. sugarglider

  3. A gerbil!!! Gerbils, unlike any other rodent (besides rats) can be trained. Also, they are amazingly cute! You should see them. People often mistake them for mice, but they are furry and SOOOOO much cuter!! I love my 2 gerbils.

☻They live from 2-6 years if you take good care (although mind lived for 9 years..NO JOKE!!

☻They LOVE to be played with.

    ☻They are funny to watch!!

I think that they are soo cute. Here is a video proving why:

For the person above me: GERBILS STOP being 'squirmish' after about a week. Rats are good pets....but are VERY involving!! TRUST ME I HAD THEM B4. But its up 2 u dude.

  4. probably the guinea pig, they're very friendly if treated right.

  5. hamsters like to be held...

  6. Rabbits rarely like to be held right away- if ever.  They need lots of time and are a huge responsibility and require a lot of work to keep healthy and happy.   Hamsters are an ok choice, but you're wrong about rats; rats would really be a great choice as long as they've been socialized properly because they are actually interactive and really bond with their owners.  If they've been socialized well they looove to be held and play- they are very social.  Here's some basic info:

  7. I just love the mini Rex rabbit.  It is small and quiet and loves to be held.  To touch one it to want one or more.

  9. It is the matter of training the animal that people are friends.Usually, animals hand-breed by a breeder get along with people better than store animals.

    Consider a bird?

They usually enjoy sitting on people's shoulders and are not too difficult to train.

  10. Male rats are by far the most cluddly small rodent around!!

  11. one above comment is right - you can train animals to be tame.

you just have to work with them a LOT..

and it's better (and easier later) if you can possibly get a young animal.

they will come to know you and trust you with the right handling and, of course, a lot a lot a lot of knowledge.

if you are a beginner with small animals, try a ferret... they are very friendly and smart. they are easy to find at shelters and rescue centers. once you get enough experience under your belt, definitely try a couple sugar gliders or chinchillas. they are great pets :)

make sure to do your research before buying!

    lots of luck
