I like chinchillas, degus, minks, squirrels, flying squirrels, and chipmunks. Please give pros and cons for each if you can and give details if you have experience with any of the above. Other suggestions are welcome but my main focus are the ones I listed.

  1. ok, I think that you should get a rabbit. They are so fun and really active and love able. Get one now dude.

  2. Chinchillas - Take a lot of time, money, and effort. They will make quite a bit of noise at night. I can sleep through it though. They live 10-20 years. Very social and it's best to get a same s*x pair. You can keep two males or two females together. They also require dust baths.

Degus - They are diurnal. They also should be kept in pairs, female pairs are the best choice, since keeping multiple degus as males can be extremely aggressive towards each other. Though, do be sure your females are not pregnant. They live 5-8 years. They also require dust baths.

Minks -  These can't even be considered a pet or a rodent. Minks do not make good pets. Consider getting a ferret instead.

Squirrels - They do not make good pets either because they are wild animals. They're often illegal to keep as pets anyways.

Flying Squirrels - They do not make good pets either because they are wild animals. They are also often illegal to keep as pets. Consider looking into a sugar glider instead, but be sure to check the laws in your state, as they are sometimes illegal as well.

Chipmunks - Same with minks and squirrels, they are wild animals and do not make good pets, and are often illegal to keep.

Do remember that before getting any pet to look into adopting one first. There are so many unwanted chinchillas, ferrets, and degus out there that need homes.

Be sure that whatever you decide on, that it is legal in your state. If caught with an illegal animal you can be faced with a large fine and the animal will most likely be put down.

  4. Chinchillas- not domesticated.  Wouldn't advise it.

    Degus- you would need two.

    Minks- illegal to harbor

    Squirrels- illegal to harbor

Flying squirrels- not domesticated and I think it's illegal

Go with a mouse, gerbil, or a rabbit.
