  1. why not rescue one from the pound?

  2. Go to a pound or a shelter.  Don't ever buy a pet from a pet store.

Plus, dogs are expensive.  If you can't fork over the money to buy the dog in the first place, chances are you SHOULD NOT have a dog.  You'll need to get the dog fixed, shots, regular check ups, teeth cleaning... if the dog is ill you'll need to bring it into the vets office, you'll need to buy toys, food, bedding ....

But if you already have a dog you should know this...

  3. What exactly is "open adoption" for a dog?  You send pictures to the birth mom every year?  LOL....Adoption is adoption, when it comes to dogs....pet stores usually SELL dogs (which is bad), except Petsmart & Petco.

You can look at your local shelter or find a rescue group near you to adopt a Pit Bull.  Check out petfinder.org to find a group near you, or check out Spindletop Pit Bull Refuge:  http://www.spindletoprefuge.com/Welcome....

  4. Go to a breed specific dog rescue group and get one.  They usually have great dogs ready to adopt.

  5. I agree go to a local shelter and adopt

  6. you shouldn't buy a puppy from a pet store, look at local rescues first

  7. Well I was going to say Petco and Petsmart both have adoptions, but on Pitbulls I dont know. Usually when you adopt a Pitbull you have to go through an interview because they can sometimes be used as fighting dogs. Just try the animal shelter. I know our is full of pitbulls...its ridiculous how many are there!

  8. I believe that Petco often has local shelters come in on specific days of the week with some animals that are up for adoption. So you can try that.

In regards to another pit-why not try a pit-rescue? Or even settle for a pit-mix rescue?

  9. Please, no pet stores.

Try a shelter or a breeder.

English Bull Terriers are a great alternative to Pit Bulls as well and are generally more trustworthy. Or even a Staffordshire bull terrier, they are adorable and have a great nature.

I am not Anti-Pit Bull, though I believe they can be very dangerous and I would reccomend seeking an alternative. I know some PitBulls can be great and live a full life without aggression but it can still happen and the odds are against you with Pit Bulls. Especially if you go to a pet store.

    Okay, enough ranting.
