I asked my parents for a ferret, chinchilla, and bearded dragon and all three were immediately put down. I dont want an ordinary pet or something high maitenance (since they want nothing to do with it). So what pet is "parent proof"?

  1. Ask for a hamster!

    lol.

If you get a playfull one theyre really good pets, you have to care for them and clean their cage and all that stuff a lot but yeah.

Tell them it will teach you responsibility!

And that you will care for it, ect.

    :]]

    good luck!

  2. Get a rat. :) They're great! My parents allow me to get all sorts of pets, but ferrets, chinchillas, and birds have always been put down.

-Bearded dragons are really high maintenance.

-Leopard geckos are easy to take care of but are pretty common beginer lizzards.

    -Turtles are high maintenance.

    -Hamsters are way too common

-Mice, fish, and crabs are boring

-birds, besides being loud and needing big cages, are really expensive, unless you get a parakeet which are pretty common

-Guinea pigs and rabbits can get pretty expensive, and rabbits p**p A LOT.

Snakes can be fun, and are very easy to take care of if you get a hardy breed. They also come in a large variety so you could find something less common. Kingsnakes are pretty popular. You could go out and catch a gopher snake, cuz most people dont have that since they dont sell them in stores. But you need to have a fishing license to legally own a wild snake. However, i have a gopher snake and i dont have a license, cuz no one really checks. She's a great pet, very friendly.

If you want a pet that will interact with you, get a rat. They are SOOO much fun! You'd be surprised! If you have any questions about rats or the other animals i mentioned, or how parents and other adults react to them, just email me and il be glad to answer!

  3. try a snake my mom let me have a snake when i was little but she hated it but now im a mommy u can try a cute dog what ever breed is their fav and so they cant say no lol

  4. it all depends on the parent. some love animals, some hate them. it sounds like your parents are haters.

    fish.

  5. try hamsters easy to take care of and you can still play with them but maybe your parents won't like the idea of a rodent or you can get a guinea pig which takes more work though.

  6. i would try birds, bearded dragons are VERY low maintenance! so try that again, hermit crabs are way cool and very inexpensive red eared slider turtles are different but you need to change the water often so Idk if your up to that .........fish kinda stink so i hope i helped

get a lot of info on the pet you really want to show them you  are committed "that's what i do and it got me all my pets 2 dogs 1 Guinea pig,1snake,1lizard,1turtle,3fish

    good luck!

  7. There are some pretty weird fish out there. Maybe a pirahna or an aquatic frog. The frog can't really leave the water so it's pretty easy to take care of. Pirahna have a bad rap. They probably wont' bite you unless you only have your finger dangling there and they mistake it for a worm or something.  Try maybe an Axolotl. They are some of the freakiest pets out there but are really cool. There are hairless dogs out there (the xolo, american hairless terrier, chinese crested) and of course the hairless cat (sphinx). One of the best pets out there are rats and you should be able to get a hairless one at your local petsmart. If they don't have one ask them to order one and they should be able to. My petsmart sells them along with hairless rabbits and hairless guinea pigs.

    Good luck!

  8. I bought a cat without my dad knowing..

So of course we had to keep it, he didn't know what to do.

I'm not saying you should do that, because some parents will freak out.

I bought 2 Red Cap Oranda goldfish, last month, and they're still going strong! They are nice fish, and maybe you need to start off with some fish as well. Maybe a betta, or a goldfish if you think you can really handle the responsibility and the size of tank needed.

  9. depends on the parent and their experiences with pets

I had hamsters, I wouldnt let my kid have one, but she had a bunny, and this year got Chukar Partridges.

I would also say no to a Ferret, Chinchilla, and Beardie

Ferrets need 3 hours out of a cage daily

Bearded dragons get big - eventually needing a 5ft long cage

oh ya.. there is another exotic pet we have..

    LOW maintanance too..

    and totally NOT ordinary!

  10. I'm pretty sure your parents will approve fish. Maybe if you show them how responsible you are with your fish, they'll let you move on to other pets.

    Edit -

How about hermit crabs? Or turtles?
