  1. You can do it during any phase except the Damage Step of the Battle Phase, unless that Trap Card could alter ATK/DEF of a card. Most Traps have specific triggers that you would need to wait for, but Continuous Traps are somewhat easier to activate. You can also activate Traps during Chains as long as it is the right Spell Speed.

  2. if its face down you can play it but not all of them if it says it cant

  3. you can activate trap cards anytime after the turn you set them. but some traps have specific times for activating it (sakuretsu armor can only be activated when the opponent attacks)

  4. you can activate any phase except the turn you just set the card.

remember some cards can only be activated in some certain ways, like sakuretsu armor or ultimate offering or pulling the rug.

if you set a face down card like "THREATENING ROAR"

and you end ur turn, then ur opponent plays heavy storm

even though your heavy storm says destroy all spell and traps

you can still activate them (not sakuretsu armor) you can activate threatening roar you set down,

  5. Any phase. Normal traps on your turn (Shift I think is one?). counter traps or whatever they're called are played during your opponent's turn (Mirror Force, Magic Cylinder, Trap Hole, etc.) Continuous Traps are played on both yours and your opponent's turn I think (Gravity Bind, Dragon's Rage).

  6. any phase, for cards such as jar of greed, but you obviously have to wait for cards such as mirror force to be triggered by an attack in the battle phase
