HI,

I have SkypeIn account to use as a home phone and use Skype to call out. However, I need a cordless/wireless phone so I can make/receive phone calls via Skype.

I went to Skype website, but there are so many I don't know which one is good for me without spending too much money.

I also hear that I can buy some type of adapter/converter to usb port so I can use regular phone for Skype. How is this work? I've missed so many Skype In calls because I couldn't hear the phone ring or my monitor was turned off and when I make a call, I need to sit in front of the computer. I simply want to make calls in the kitchen or in bedrooms or etc...

Thank you for your help.

  1. Yes, there are various ways to use Skype with a regular or cordless telephones.

    D-Link has a USB-to-Phone Skype adapter: DPH-50U:

Linksys has the CIT-200 and CIT-300 USB Skype phones:

Linksys also has a "stand-alone" skype phone adapter that plugs directly into your Router or Modem - No PC required:

and there's the Linksys Wireless-G Skype Phone: WIP-320:

I recently purchased the Plantronics "Calisto Pro":

This is a very cool phone system.

It will plug into any telephone jack, or VoIP ATA.  It also has a USB adapter that plugs into my PC.  It includes a Wireless DECT 6.0 handset AND a wireless bluetooth Headset.  The cool thing is, with The Calisto Pro, I can talk wireless to my PSTN phone or VoIP ATA, and it will work with Skype wirelessly too when the USB connector is connected to your PC.

It is pricy though.  But, this is the only cordless phone that I have seen that includes a Wireless Headset AND integrates with computer softphones and Skype.....

The wireless BlueTooth headset not only works with Skype, but also works with any other VoIP Softphone I have installed on my PC.  But, the Calisto Pro is optimized to work with Skype and works a little easier with Skype than my other softphones.

  2. There is a usb adapter made by Magic Jack you simply plug in the usb adapter and it provide you with a phone jack
