What photographic effect is this, please? (regarding colour)?

It's not sepia, but its not grayscale either, it's something between. How do they call this affect and can I get this result with the GIMP for my own pictures?

  1. It looks like a bright desaturated sepia tone.

    Open the image.

    Create two new layers and change the layer modes to Color.

    Fill the first new layer with sepia color.

    Fill the second new layer with white or black, doesn't matter.

    Adjust the second new layer's opacity.


  2. looks like it's a very bright sepia. no indication of grayscale in it.

    do how you usually edit a photo in sepia tone, just add brightness or bloom depending on your photo editor.
