  1. vulcanism

  2. Gulf of Mexico and Carribean sea are circular so indicating they were formed by asteroid strikes. The Antilles were formed as the edges of the impact crater.

  3. Lesser Antillies are the islands on the eastern edge of Caribbean sea. These are main volcanic islands. So, in simple words words we can say they are formed by volcanic eruptions.

    .

But if observed deeply these are formed on the boundary of the two tectonic plates (( Plate Tectonics : Earth's lithosphere is diveded into many plates floating over molten Asthenosphere )). They are on the outer edge of Caribean plate and formed due to subduction ((a process in which one tectonic plates slips under the other due to orientation, density etc.)) of one or more plates under the Carribean Sea. So precisely we can say that the islands are having "TECTO-VOLCANIC FORMATION"
