  1. There's no official definition of a fair amount of rainfall that I am aware of. However, I can say that the kind of necessary rainfall for a location is no more than six inches every month. By necessary rainfall, I mean enough rainfall to support life. Many species of plants and animals require rainfall directly or indirectly. Most locations within the Midwestern United States are like this.

    As for one day, a fair amount of rainfall would probably be up to an inch.
