What place is better punta cana or puerto plata?

me and my friends are planning to go to Dominican Republic, which has the better night life, we want both nice beach and night life. which is better?

Puerto Plata of course without any hesitations! In Punta Cana there is nothing to do outside the hotels.

North Coast is better for the young on a budget.  Puerto Plata to Cabarate.
