Having grown up as a kid in LA, I would say that riding horses at Griffith Park was one of my favorite things.  The La Brea tar pits were cool.  I liked going to the Santa Monica pier or just hanging out at the beach.  You can eat at places like Medieval Times and Wild Bills which are entertaining.  There are a lot of options so have fun.
