Question:

What places do people most likely register at? I've been thinking I need to register at only one location.

Most of the family are middle class and low middle class. I had registered at Macy's. I LOVE MACY'S. But some of their stuff is overpriced. I shouldn't have to spend 699 on a cali king bed set...I would say 300 tops. What places should I register at?

  1. We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond because they had everything we wanted covering all different price ranges.

  2. People will buy you what you want, so do Macy's if you really love it.  But remember, if people go in and spend $700 for something, they're not getting you the other things you need.  Do something like Bed Bath and Beyond, it's practical and has everything you need.  The more you register for, the less crystal vases you end up with.  Though, you'll still get some hideous things- no avoiding it.

DON'T do Target.  They are a pain in the butt.  Returns suck: you have to get gift cards and you have to have the reciept.  So if people forget to give you it, your stuck asking for it or keeping the gift you don't want.

Bed Bath and Beyond gives you cash for returns (even w/o a reciept) and has a completion program where whatever people don't get you, you get for 20% off after your wedding.

  3. You can register where you like... and registering at Macy's with gift cards as an option would help those that can only afford X amount give you money towards whatever it is you like at that store.  :o)

Target is always a good bet as well... easy to ship, shop, and purchase items in store for every price range.

Bed, Bath, and Beyond - also a good Wedding registry store.  I'm still getting gift cards for them, and the Wedding was in May!  Love the place!

    Good luck!

  4. You should list several places to go to, some that are less expensive, since you acknowlege that some have less money.  Pick out things that you would like, but that someone  with less money can afford. I don't know your area, so cannot tell you the names of stores. Target comes to mind as being a national store.

  5. I see your problem, I also like it when people register at one place, BUT like you said - Macy's can be pricey (unless the clearance is on sale).  SO you may want to consider a secondary registry... I like Target for everyday, and Bed, Bath and Beyond is good, too.   OR if you're only @ one store make sure you've put lower amount gift cards ($20/25) on your registry then you can priortize what you buy or wait for the clearance is on clearance (or on line clearance) sales.

I keep joking that when it is time, my nieces will have to register at the gas station or grocery store....

Congrats and best wishes to you.

  6. My niece registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Target and Dillards.  My nephew's fiancee registered at Sears and Target.  Any moderately priced department store would be a good place to register.

  7. Register at Macy's and a less expensive location too, such as Bed Bath and Beyond, which will let you return (for store credit) items that were not on your registry or purchased at their store.

  8. Wedding Ett. says that you shouldn't register at anymore than 3 places. Register at places that can be access online as well as a store for the people that don't like to get out and shop. Think of you families budget. Where do they normally do there shopping at? Where do you normally do your shopping at? Don't get to fancy because that means you'll get less and the less of a chance you'll get what you want or need. We have our register at Wal-Mart and JCPenny.

  9. YAY congrats! I registered at two places to accommodate all my guests buying abilities and shopping preferences we also have alot of people coming from out of town so we had to register places with lots of stores nation wide. however we defiantly had the most fun registering at bed bath and beyond! plus they have incentives so we got small presents from the manufactures for things we were going to register for anyway (plus we get them regardless of if they get purchased!) they also have a completion program where we get a discount on anything that doesn't get bought if we want to go buy it ourselves. I would defiantly check out their website if I were you! (Linens and things has a similar program so even though I personally didn't register there it's worth looking into)

  10. do macys if you love it and another at something like bed bath and beyond so you will have the lower prices too, jsut dont register for similar items

  11. I would choose 2-3 places since people have places where they're comfortable in shopping. Also, some out-of-town guests may not have a Macy's in their area and may not like to shop online.

I would recommend adding Target and some other store where you like to shop, perhaps Crate and Barrel or Bed, Bath & Beyond, or even Home Depot for things like gardening and barbecue items.

    Good luck!

  12. Is there a reason you're only registering at one place?

We did Macy's and Target.  A lot of stuff was cheaper there.  We did fine china, silverware, some kitchen things, at Macy's, but towels, sheets, a lot of kitchen gadgets, and other fun things at Target.  If you're looking for one place that has pretty much everything, Target is a good choice.  It was easy to set up the registry, too.
